Can Biden deliver on his Climate promises?

Many scientists believe his goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 is theoretically feasible and cost-effective. Politics is another story.

President Biden signed a series of executive orders on Wednesday, officially enshrining his mission to stop climate change at all levels of the federal government. .The administration reiterated its pledge to lead "a renewable energy revolution" in line with the Paris Agreement's goal of keeping global warming well below 2 degrees Celsius, which would place the nation on a path to 100 percent carbon-free electricity by 2035 and net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Some scientists are sure, but not all of them, that such a revolution is theoretically feasible and economically affordable in the United States. But it's going to be one of the toughest hypothetic that the nation has ever had to prove. Is the administration of Biden on track? Here is what people claim.

'The single greatest day in more than a decade for climate change'

Executive orders released on Wednesday revealed that Mr. Biden takes climate change more seriously than any president before him. "This is the single biggest day in more than a decade for climate action," Gene Karpinski, president of the Environmental Voters' League, told The Times.

The administration's promise to pay relentless and thorough attention to climate change was what made "climate day" huge. The new White House has also shown that climate change is not a single problem on the same level as education, health care, economic recovery or immigration.
